This is the SaaS business that is generating the most passive income for me.

  • Clickhouse for OLAP. Initially used Postgres for everything, but ran into performance issue overtime especially with complex queries. Offload expensive queries to Clickhouse.

  • AmazonSES for delivering all emails, both marketing and transactional. Was using Postmark initially, but they got acquired and did a major price hike on existing customers 🤦. 

  • Cloudflare R2 for storage

  • BunnyCDN for CDN used for serving assets and widgets on merchant sites

  • Servers hosted on Hetzner. Was using Google Cloud in the early years and switched 2 years ago. One of the best decision made! See why.

Email Marketing

OnVoard's email marketing app has all the tools you need for email marketing. With our workflow automations, merchants only need to spent a few hours for initial setup to automatically bring in additional revenue for their store with workflows like cart abandonment. See available workflows. 

The email marketing app has tons of features like email editor, workflow automations, contact profiles, segmentation etc.

Feature wise, the biggest difference of OnVoard vs other email marketing software, is that OnVoard provide the option for marketers to use their own SMTP provider account for sending.

All seasoned email marketers knows deliverability is the most important thing in email marketing. And allowing marketers to use their own SMTP provider account for sending gives them full control over deliverability.

For example, they can use their own SendGrid or Postmark account for sending. If they want, they can even setup to use dedicated IP in those accounts. 

This shows my ability in coming up with innovative solution for enterprise users. In this case, major brands who wants to have more control over their email deliverability.

AOV Progress Bar is an interactive progress bar that changes whenever customers add or remove items from cart. This motivates customers to subconsciously add more items to their cart in order to qualify for discounts.

Product Recommender

Our recommender app don't just display product recommendations. We make product recommendations more compelling by adding social proofs like "25% of customers bought this together" to convince customers WHY they should add product to cart. This is the app differentiation VS other product recommendations app.

Merchants can choose from a list of recommender logics to use. Many of the logics are handled via general analytical queries on Clickhouse. Others like frequent bought together requires frequent pattern mining techniques.

In fact, I actually figured how to generate frequently bought together and also bought recommendations directly using Clickhouse queries based on the association rule formulas.

The only logic that requires usage of ML library is similar items which requires identifying text similarity. Being able to handle most of the recommendations via Clickhouse queries has saved me tons of server resources and allowing me to keep price affordable for merchants.
